UPDATE! Body Discovered on Route 365 in Verona, NY; Authorities Investigating Possible Hit-and-Run

UPDATE 3-6-2025: According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle on Rt. 365 in the Town of Verona has been identified as Timothy D. Sullivan, age 61, from Oneida. The accident appears to have happened on Monday night (March 3, 2025) at approximately 7:15 pm. Sullivan appears to have been walking toward Oneida on Rt. 365, with traffic, just east of Nicky Doodles when he was struck. The vehicle that is involved in the accident left the scene and has not been located at this time. The sheriff's office is asking anybody with dash camera video that traveled through that area between 7 pm- 7:30 pm, believes they may have seen something pertinent during that time, or has noticed a vehicle with recent damage consistent with this accident, to contact the sheriff's criminal investigation unit at (315) 765-2767.

 

UPDATE: According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on March 4, 2025, at about 7 am, the sheriff's office responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian, Rt. 365 in the Town of Verona near Nicky Doodles. Rt. As a result, 365 was closed to traffic and has since been reopened. Further information will be available after next of kin are notified.

The sheriff's office is asking anybody that has information or believes they may have seen something to contact them at (315) 765-2767.

 

Verona, NY – A body was discovered early this morning on State Route 365, prompting an ongoing investigation into a possible hit-and-run incident.

At approximately 6:57 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a section of Route 365 between Stoney Brook Road and Hill Road after a passerby reported finding a deceased male with a visible head wound on the side of the roadway. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the individual was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

As a result of the investigation, all lanes in both directions have been temporarily closed as law enforcement officials examine the area for evidence. The location of the incident is approximately two miles from Turning Stone Casino, a heavily traveled corridor.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have been traveling through the area during the early morning hours or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity to come forward.
