Chazy Woman Arrested After High-Speed Chase and Stolen Truck Drama in Plattsburgh NY

In a dramatic turn of events, Nichole L. Lapier, 44, of Chazy, NY, found herself behind bars after leading police on a wild chase involving a stolen 2024 Ford Maverick pickup truck.

The saga began on March 31st, 2025, when State Troopers were called to investigate a complaint in Rouses Point regarding unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Lapier, who had been allowed to borrow the truck, was supposed to return it by the end of the day. However, by the following morning, the truck was still missing.

The situation escalated when the stolen vehicle was involved in a police pursuit initiated by Plattsburgh City Police, with help from State Police and the Clinton County Sheriff's Department. The chase, which lasted about 10 miles and spanned several roads in Plattsburgh and Peru, ended when the vehicle was lost from sight.

Law enforcement continued their search, leading to a report from a local resident about a woman asking for help on Lapham Mills Road. Upon arriving, officers found no sign of the woman but soon discovered the truck abandoned nearby. With determination, authorities located Lapier hiding in the attic of an apartment complex. She was taken into custody without incident.

Following her arrest, Lapier was processed and later arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court, where she was released on her own recognizance. She now faces charges of criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree.

This high-speed chase and subsequent arrest involved multiple agencies, including the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, Plattsburgh City Police, and Essex County Sheriff's Department, working together to bring the case to a close.
