A Utica man was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, following an investigation into the fraudulent use of a victim’s credit card.
On September 16th, the New Hartford Police Department received a report regarding numerous unauthorized credit card transactions that were made fraudulently, and without the consent of the account holder within The Town of New Hartford. Through the investigation it was determined that the victim’s credit card was used to complete unauthorized purchases at Walmart in New Hartford and several other unauthorized purchases at smoke shops in The City of Utica.
On September 17th, 2024 with the assistance of The Utica Police Department and The New York State Division of Parole Jamare L. Blanco, age 20, of Utica, N.Y. was taken into custody and charged in connection to this case. Blanco was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, an E Felony, Identity theft in the second degree, an E-Felony and one count of petit larceny, class A Misdemeanor, for purchasing a television from the New Hartford Walmart with the stolen credit card.
Mr. Blanco was processed and released to New York State Parole Officers who obtained a warrant for him for violating the terms of his conditions of his parole Mr. Blanco is scheduled to return to the Town of New Hartford Local Criminal Court later this month to answer these charges. The Utica Police Department assisted in the investigation of this case.
