On February 8, 2025, at approximately 8:52 a.m., State Police responded to a serious personal injury accident near the intersection of State Route 9N and Sugar Hill Road in the town of Crown Point.

An investigation revealed that a blue 2007 Ford F-250 truck, operated by 19-year-old Anthony L. Fenimore from Chestertown, NY, was traveling north on State Route 9N. As an uninvolved vehicle applied its brakes, Fenimore swerved into the southbound lane, colliding head-on with a gray 2017 Dodge Caravan.
The Dodge Caravan driver was identified as 62-year-old Deborah A. Simpson from Mineville, NY, with 85-year-old James B. Simpson, also from Mineville, as her passenger.
James B. Simpson was transported to the University of Vermont Health Network Elizabethtown Community Hospital - Ticonderoga Campus, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Deborah A. Simpson was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Fenimore and the 17-year-old male passenger in the Ford F-250 were medically examined on the scene. Fenimore did not request further medical attention and signed a waiver for hospitalization. The 17-year-old later went to the University of Vermont Health Network Elizabethtown Community Hospital - Ticonderoga Campus for a more thorough examination but did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
State Police members were assisted on the scene by Crown Point Fire, Crown Point EMS, Lamoille Valley EMS, and Ticonderoga EMS.
