Store Burglary Utica NY

On August 25th, 2024 at approximately 4:50 AM Utica Police units were notified of a burglary in progress at a store on the 900 block of Eagle St. It was reported that the store owner was notified of an alarm and was watching an individual inside of the store on his cameras.

Upon arrival officers secured a perimeter around the store and ultimately located the point of entry. Officers then entered the premise and were able to locate the suspect hiding between pieces of furniture in the store.

The male was taken into custody and ultimately transported to the Utica Police Department.

Following this the officers and store owner conducted a walkthrough of the store and noticed that the cash register, printer system, and door area where entry was made were all damaged.

Based on the factors of the incident, an investigator with the Criminal Investigations Division was contacted and returned to handle the case.

At the completion of the investigation, Moises Cruz age 22, No Known Address, was charged with:

Burglary in the third degree

Petit Larceny

Criminal Mischief in the third degree
