There's no such thing as a routine traffic stop. A Trooper on I-81 in Cortlandville spotted a vehicle that did not have its rear taillights illuminated just before 9:00 p.m. on August 25. After an investigation, the Trooper located drug paraphernalia and illicit drugs:
-110 bricks of heroin, with an aggregated weight of more than eight ounces
-Two containers of cannabis wax
-Approximately three ounces of cannabis
As a result, two Syracuse men were arrested and charged with the felony of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the first degree, the felony of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, and the misdemeanor of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree.

Two Syracuse men were arrested after a traffic stop on Interstate 81 in Cortland County.
On August 25, 2024, shortly before 9:00 p.m., New York State Police at Homer (Interstate) initiated a traffic stop on I-81 north in Cortlandville after observing a vehicle that did not have its rear taillights illuminated.
The Trooper interviewed the two occupants, who provided conflicting information. After an investigation and a search of the vehicle, the Trooper located a large quantity of illicit drugs:
110 bricks of heroin, with an aggregated weight of more than eight ounces
Two containers of cannabis wax
Approximately three ounces of cannabis
The Trooper also located drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 9:02 p.m., Troopers arrested Kenneth W. Williams, age 25 of Syracuse, NY and Kyrell E. Robinson, age 22 of Syracuse, NY. Both men were charged with:
Class “A” felony of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the first degree
Class “B” felony of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree
Misdemeanor of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree
Williams and Robinson were both processed and transported to the Cortland County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment.
