On May 18, 2024, State Police announced the arrest of Angela Fischl, age 25, from Newburgh, New York, stemming from a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on March 1, 2024, in the town of Marlboro, where two pedestrians were struck and killed.
On March 1, 2024, at approximately 9:23 p.m., Troopers and Investigators from the Highland Barracks responded to the scene of a hit-and-run accident near 1348 State Route 9W.
Fischl was traveling southbound in her vehicle when she struck two pedestrians attempting to cross State Route 9W. After striking the victims, she continued south until a Town of Newburgh Police Department patrol unit stopped her.
An exhaustive investigation was conducted by the State Police, which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for Ms. Fischl for two counts of leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death. She was remanded to Ulster County Jail.
