According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, two men have been arrested in connection with a burglary investigation involving stolen property from storage units in the Town of Westmoreland.

The case began on July 31, 2025, when Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a report of a burglary at the Route 233 Storage Units in Westmoreland. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered that three storage units had been forcibly entered and various items had been stolen.

The investigation was turned over to the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU), who conducted a detailed follow-up. During the course of their investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators were able to locate some of the stolen items in the possession of two individuals: Anthony Barber, 51, and Davin Hines, 33, both residents of Rome.

As a result, Barber and Hines were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, a Class A Misdemeanor. Both men were transported to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, where they were processed and later released on appearance tickets.

They are scheduled to appear in Rome City Court in late August.

The burglary investigation remains ongoing, and Sheriff Maciol noted that additional charges are possible as the case continues to develop.
