Congratulations to Officer Jacob Kittelberger and his K-9 partner "Freddie" on their successful graduation from the K-9 Basic Patrol School!

Officer Kittelberger and K-9 Freddie participated in an 11-week training program that consisted of intensive instruction.  The training included subjects like building clearing, tracking and the apprehension of fleeing suspects. Officer Kittelberger and K-9 Freddie are now prepared to answer the call of K-9 duties on the 3rd platoon patrol division.

K-9 Freddie was named after former Syracuse Police Officer, Fredric L. Brough Jr. who passed away on Saturday, June 24th, 2023.  Officer Brough served as a K-9 handler from 1999 to 2013.  Officer Brough was awarded the Syracuse

Police Department's "Hendrick's" Medal in 2001 which is awarded to officers for extreme bravery.  Several members of Officer Brough's family were present at the ceremony.

Officer Kittelberger and K-9 Freddie's dedication, hard work, and commitment to protecting and serving the community will enhance the strength of the Syracuse Police Department.  Here's to many years of exemplary service together.
