Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New Wave of Former State Correction Officers

ORISKANY, N.Y. — It was another milestone moment for the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office as it welcomed its third group of former New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) officers who have officially joined the ranks of the Sheriff’s Corrections Division.

Sheriff Rob Maciol, alongside Chief Deputy Mark Kinderman of the Corrections Division, personally greeted the new recruits as they began the next chapter of their law enforcement careers at the county level. The transition marks a continued expansion of the Sheriff’s Office workforce, bringing experienced corrections professionals into the fold during a time of strategic growth.

“We are proud to welcome these dedicated officers to our team,” said Sheriff Maciol. “Their experience and commitment to public safety are valuable assets as we continue strengthening the corrections division and delivering high-quality service to the community.”

This latest onboarding is part of a broader recruitment effort by the Sheriff’s Office aimed at incorporating former DOCCS officers who are seeking new opportunities after recent statewide changes in corrections operations. Over the coming days and weeks, many more officers are expected to make the transition, joining the team and bringing with them years of experience and professionalism.

The Sheriff’s Office is actively encouraging current New York State Correction Officers interested in learning more about local opportunities to reach out.
