Two Arrested For Kidnapping Stemming From an Investigation In Saranac, NY

On March 14, 2025, State Police began investigating a potential kidnapping and assault incident that took place on State Route 3 in Saranac.

On that day, a physical altercation occurred between two suspects and a victim. The victim was held against their will and was unable to escape. During the altercation, the victim was struck multiple times, tied up, and strangled.

On April 18, 2025, the Franklin County Court issued arrest warrants for Tyleek Deramus, age 27, of Brooklyn, NY, and Ashley Thompson, age 39, of Saranac, NY. A grand jury indicted Deramus on charges of second-degree kidnapping, second-degree robbery (two counts), second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault (two counts), first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and fourth-degree conspiracy. Thompson was indicted on charges of second-degree robbery (two counts), second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and fifth-degree conspiracy.

Following an extensive investigation involving the New York/New Jersey regional fugitive task force, both suspects were located and arrested. Deramus was apprehended on May 13, 2025, and was processed at SP Ray Brook before being remanded to the Franklin County Jail. Thompson was located and arrested on May 15, 2025. She was also processed at SP Ray Brook and remanded to the Franklin County Jail.

State Police were assisted by the  New York/New Jersey regional fugitive task force and the Franklin County District Attorney's Office.
