The Yorkville Fire Department has experienced an immense loss. Nick Morosco, our Assistant Chief, mentor, teacher, and friend, meant so much to many people in the community. He was the pillar of strength in times of need and the one who held the team together during tough times.
They had complete trust in his decisions and capabilities, and they followed his commands without hesitation. Nick was not only a Fire Investigator and Fire Instructor, but he also had a wealth of knowledge about firefighting and related subjects. His passing is a huge loss, not just for the fire service in general but also for the Morosco family.
Nick held various roles, including as a Dispatcher in The New Hartford Central Dispatch - 911 Center, and as the Town Animal Control Officer for the Town of New Hartford.
He was always willing to go above and beyond for the community and was an integral part of The New Hartford Police Department's daily operations for many years.
His dedication to public service continued with The Village of Yorkville Department of Public Works, where he rose to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief with Yorkville Fire & Hose Co.
Nick was a true public servant who formed strong bonds with others in the community. Many will miss his humor, commitment to the community, and his presence. Rest in peace, Chief.
